Player Spotlight: Ashton Mutuwa has All-American finish to strong senior year

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The normal conclusion of a Campbellsville University men's wrestling dual for the last two seasons usually ended with a bout for Ashton Mutuwa in the 285 lbs. weight class.
 
Mutuwa's senior season improved on his junior campaign as he finished 2020 with a 36-8 record as he finished the season earning 14 of his wins on the season via pin.
 
Through the 2020 season, Mutuwa earned 16 consecutive wins combined in open and dual matches stretching from Nov. 9 all the way to the NWCA National Duals when he dropped a match against Southeastern University on Jan. 11.
 
His postseason saw a pair of third place finishes as he went 3-1 in the Mid-South Conference Championships to then finish as an All-American and third place finisher at the NAIA Championships where he only dropped his match to the No. 1 ranked wrestler and eventual national champion in the weight class.

• Entered National Tournament as #9 seed              
• Reached the round of 12 at the national tournament                   
• Patriot Open Champion                  
• Had wins over All Americans Brandon Hill (Life) and Aaron Johnson (University of Cumberlands)
