Tigers start their week with Wednesday road match at Lewis University

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Prior to heading to North Carolina for the NCCAA Invitational, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team will head to Romeoville, Ill. for a road match against Lewis University Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.
 
Lewis University does not allow any fans into their volleyball matches as only essential personnel are allowed into Neil Carey Arena. Lewis will stream the match on their website at www.glvcsn.com/lewis for fans to be able to follow along.
 
TIGER NOTES
  • CU is coming off of a 3-0 sweep over Tusculum University in their home opener last Saturday as the Tigers won all three sets by scores of 27-25, 25-18, and 25-17.
  • Middle blocker Noah Henkel led the way for Campbellsville with nine kills on 13 attempts with only one error for a .615 attack percentage to help Henkel earn the NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week honor.
  • Saturday's match also signaled the 2021 debut of middle blocker Ramon Matos and outside hitter Ho Yin Leung as the pair combined for 11 kills in the match.
  • Matos had a stellar 2020 season that led to NAIA All-American honors and Leung is looking to fill the shoes of some lost outside hitters from 2020 along with other incoming freshmen.
 
SCOUTING LEWIS
  • The Flyers will be opening their season against CU on Wednesday as they are coming off of a 15-4 2020 season at the NCAA Division II level.
  • They are ranked No. 5 in the NVA/AVCA Division I-II Preseason Coaches' Poll and selected to win the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association in the MIVA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • The Flyers return 18 players from last year's team including four AVCA All-American First Team selections Ryan Coenen and Tyler Mitchem and honorable mention selections Kevin Kauling and TJ Murray.
  • Coenen led the Flyers with 256 kills in 2020 followed by Mitchem with 188 as Kauling worked as the primary setter with 604 assists on the season and Murray combining for 100 kills and 45 total blocks on the season.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
  • Campbellsville will head to Winston-Salem, N.C. on Friday and Saturday for the NCCAA Invitational Tournament this weekend.
  • The Tigers are the defending champions of the event after winning the 2020 Invitational.
