CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Coming off of a tough loss to Lewis University, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team will head to North Carolina for the NCCAA Invitational Tournament.
The Tigers have been placed into Poll B as the No. 2 seed in the tournament to match up against Lancaster Bible College and Carolina University for a chance to play in the championship match. Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET, CU will face the No. 6 seed Carolina and Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. ET, they will take on No. 4 Lancaster Bible.
There is a three-match guarantee for every team as there will be a fifth place, third place, and championship match later on Saturday at 2:00, 4:30, and 7 p.m. ET respectively.
The NCCAA will provide a video stream and live stats for each match as the streams will be aired as pay-per-view on their streaming service via
www.thenccaa.org/network.
TIGER NOTES
- Campbellsville will come into the Invitational as the defending champions from the 2020 event as they rolled through last year's pool play, not losing a set, on their way to a 3-2 championship match win over Ottawa University Arizona.
- With their 3-1 defeat to Lewis, the Tigers now sit at a 2-2 record, which matches the total amount of losses CU had through 25 matches of the 2020 season when they finished the COVID-19 shortened season 23-2.
- Individually in kills, Rafael Cruz (41), Jason Camacho (35), and Jacob Zum Kolk (29) have led the outside attack with Noah Henkel (27) and Ramon Matos (15) lead the charge in the middle with Matos' 15 kills coming in only two matches played.
SCOUTING CAROLINA
- The Bruins have played three different Mid-South Conference opponents in their early portion of the season as they lost all three matches 3-0 to Reinhardt, Life, and Cumberland University.
- Carolina's men's volleyball team is in the first year of their program as they only have two more matches schedule for the remainder of their season following the invitational.
- Stephen Wilson has been the leading attacker for the Bruins in each match, finishing with kill totals of six in two separate matches and nine in the other.
SCOUTING LANCASTER BIBLE
- The Chargers will be competing in their first matches of the season at the NCCAA Invitational following a 17-3 2020 campaign.
- LBC has returned 11 of the 22 roster players from their 2020 team including senior Kole Horst, who led the team in kills with 191 kills on the shortened season.
- Setter Reuben Kemrer is also back for the Chargers as the junior led the team in both assists (699) and digs (112) last season.
LOOKING AHEAD
- Following the NCCAA Invitational, the Tigers will play four of their next five matches at Gosser Gymnasium starting with a pair of home matches on Feb. 6 against Lincoln College and a rematch against Goshen College.
