GREENVILLE, N.C. – Along with the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team earning the NCCAA Invitational Championship, senior setter
Jeremy Hernandez earned the NCCAA's Student-Athlete of the Week for men's volleyball Monday afternoon.
The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native earned the honor due in large part to his performance at the NCCAA Invite as the Tigers took home their second-straight championship.
Hernandez was one of the few Tigers to compete in all four of the team's matches last week as he had limited work in CU's loss to Lewis last Wednesday but led the team in assists in the three NCCAA Invite matches. Hernandez totaled 110 assists in those three matches while finishing the championship match with a 38-assist, 12-dig double-double. This is the second Setter of the Week honor for Hernandez this season and the fourth of his career.
Hernandez also took home the Mid-South Conference Setter of the Week honor as his teammates
Rafael Cruz and
Jay Montalvo also took home MSC honors this Monday. This is also the second-straight NCCAA weekly honor for a Tiger after middle blocker
Noah Henkel earned the honor last week.
The Tigers will be off this week before returning to match action next weekend when they host Lincoln College and Goshen College on Feb. 6 at Gosser Gymnasium.
