CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Following a short trip on the road, the Campbellsville University men's basketball team will return home for a late afternoon matchup with No. 6 Georgetown College at the Powell Athletic Center Monday at 4 p.m. ET.
The game time has moved from an 8 p.m. start to the current 4 p.m. start due to the postponement of the women's basketball matchup against Georgetown due to COVID-19 protocols.
The Tigers are working on a three-game winning streak dating back to Dec. 15 as they've earned wins over Cumberlands, Cumberland, and Lindsey Wilson to move to 6-3 overall and 4-2 inside of the Mid-South Conference.
In Saturday's win over the Blue Raiders, a pair of career-high point totals from
Brayden Sebastian (20) and
Max Reyes (19) helped carry CU to a 90-76 win in their first game of the new year.
Campbellsville University will continue to not allow any outside spectators into basketball games as they have for the entire season to this point with only teams and working staff allowed in the Powell Athletic Center for the game.
BROADCAST INFORMATION
- Matt Payton, the voice of Tiger basketball, will be on the call for the broadcast as he will be joined by CU's second all-time leading scorer and Campbellsville Hall of Famer Benji Kelly.
- WLCU-TV and radio will cover the game locally on Comcast Channel 10 and 88.7 FM The Tiger.
- Fans can watch online at www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch and also on their streaming apps - Roku, Amazon FireStick, and Apple TV - by searching CU Sports Network.
SUPPORTING CAST SHOWING UP
- Through the early portion of the schedule, CU's success has been due in large to the play of starting point guard Taiveyhon Mason who is averaging over 20 points per game but the numbers may show that a win or a loss may come down to the performance of the rest of the roster.
- In the Tigers' six wins, they have multiple scorers in double figures outside of Mason in each of those games including the career-highs from Sebastian and Reyes against Lindsey Wilson.
- Outside shooting has also been crucial to the supporting cast as Sebastian, Reyes, Alston Davis, Sam Weining, and Jay'Von Jackson all were able to knock down three-point shots against Lindsey Wilson as their ability to space the floor opens up space for Mason.
- Lenorris Mincey has seemed to bring a different look to the center spot for the Tigers since being inserted into the starting lineup on Dec. 15 against Cumberlands as he's been able to average 6.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game over those three games, steadily increasing his output in both categories over each game, finishing Saturday's game with 12 points and eight rebounds.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
- The Tigers started the season as the preseason No. 1 ranked team and have moved to No. 6 after suffering their only loss to Cumberlands but they lost significant contributors to their 2019-20 team that finished the season 30-2 overall and 14-2 in MSC play including earning the MSC tournament championship.
- Four of their top five scorers from last season were all seniors as they were able to return leading scorer Jake Ohmer for this season but Ohmer has been out of their last few games due to injury after starting the year averaging 19.3 points per game.
- Forward Kyran Jones and guard Derrin Boyd have picked up the scoring slack for GC as Jones ranks third in the conference with 21.3 points per game and Boyd adding over 17 points per game.
LOOKING AHEAD
- Campbellsville will have a pair of road games moving forward as they will have a Thursday evening matchup in Crestview Hills, Ky. against Thomas More University, scheduled for an 8 p.m. ET tip.
