8 school records broken by the Tigers on Homecoming

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Tigers pounced on their opportunity to make a statement and boasted eight new Campbellsville men's swimming records to their victory over the Bethel University Wilcats on Friday, 172-73.

The meet began with the men setting their new record for the 200-meter medley relay. Ian Lopez, Nick Grabauskas, Sebastian Escobar, and Llewellyn Crewe-Brown finished with a time of 1:52.30. It was back-to-back records right from the launch as Escobar beat another school time with an 8:44.72 victory in the 800-meter freestyle. Next was the 200-meter freestyle where Israel Kolomiyets finished with the best time (2:08.40).

After that it was another event, another historic time set for the men's team. Crewe-Brown came in first with a time of 1:03.00 in the 100-meter backstroke besting Logan Reichley by just six tenths of a second. Subsequently, Kolomiyets captured a school best as he took first place in the 100-meter breaststroke with a 1:12.49.

The 100-meter freestyle was another record-breaker as Lopez ended the event with 55.59 on the clock. Crewe-Brown was right behind him with a 56.70. Escobar was the next to set a new record with a 2:20.52 time in the 300-meter backstroke followed by John Carter Chappell's recording-breaking performance in the 200-meter breaststroke with 2:37.46.

The last two men's events were both record-setters as well. In the 200-meter individual medley, Chappell logged another school record with a 2:21.82 while the last event saw the team of Escobar, Lopez, Grabauskas, and Crewe-Brown finish with a 3:45.00.

We broke 10 team records tonight," Coach Casey Bradstreet said. The Lady Tigers broke two records of their own during the meet. "I am very excited with their efforts and battling to race hard tonight! It was a great meet and they have earned their fall break for sure!"

The Tigers will have two weeks until their next meet against the Asbury College Eagles on Friday October 22 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
