Campbellsville sees 14 different events earn NAIA cuts leading them to a runner-up finish at Sewanee

SEWANEE, TN – Campbellsville saw 14 different events hit an NAIA Provisional or Automatic cut at the Sewanee Igloo Invitational over the weekend. 
 
The first came from the 200-yard freestyle relay when Sebastian Escobar, Nicholas Grabauskas, Llewellyn Crewe-Brown, and Ian Lopez swam a time of 1:27.60 which was an auto qualifying time. 
 
In the 200 IM John Carter Chappell was able to earn a provisional cut in the event with his fourth place finishing time of 1:59.29. Escobar was the next to join Chappell in the early solo event qualifier. 
 
Escobar earned a provisional cut in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:38.41 while also earning runner-up in the event just one second behind Lindsey Wilson's Fabio Martin. Escobar went onto qualify in the 200-yard butterfly with his time of 1:56.81 in the prelims. He also would qualify in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:46.02 placing second in the event.
 
Gabrauskas and Israel Kolomiyets earned back-to-back finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke. Gabrauskas placed third in the event with a time of 1:00.69 while Kolomiyets was fourth in the event at 1:00.93.
 
Crewe-Brown earned his spot in the 200-yard backstroke with his provisional cut time of 1:59.98 placing third overall in the event. He saw one more provisional cut in the 100-yard backstroke placing third in the event with a time of 54.27.
 
Ian Lopez was another solo event qualifier in the 100-yard freestyle. Lopez placed fourth in the event with his provisional cut time of 47.95. Lopez also qualified in the 50-yard freestyle with his runner-up performance time of 21.69.
 
Carter Chappell swam his way to a bronze medal finish in the 400 IM. Chappell swam a time of 4:19.45 which is an NAIA Provisional cut. Chappell also had one more provisional cut in the 200-yard breaststroke. He placed runner-up in the event with a time of 2:10.36.
 
Three other relays saw automatic qualifying action this weekend. In the 800-yard freestyle the team was able to place runner-up with a time of 7:08.36. In the 200-yard medley relay Campbellsville placed second once again with a time of 1:35.35. In the 400-yard freestyle relay the Tigers picked up one more second place finish in the event with a time of 3:08.75.
 
The Tigers placed runner-up as a team in the meet with 883 points while Lindsey Wilson College won the meet with 912 points.
 
Campbellsville will jump back into action on Thursday December 16th at Shawnee State University. That meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
