BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As the Campbellsville University swim teams closed out their regular season last Wednesday, CU's Sebastian Escobar's performance in the dual against Lindsey Wilson led to his selection as the Mid-South Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.
 
Escobar swam in five different events, scoring points for the Tigers in four of those five events. Individually, he won both of his races in the 400-yard individual medley and 100-yard freestyle and was part of Campbellsville's 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard freestyle relay, and 200-yard medley relay teams.
 
In the 400 IM, Escobar's time of 4:20.55 was good enough to hit NAIA provisional standards as he was able to beat the other three swimmers to win that race. His 100 freestyle time was .01 seconds away from also meeting a provisional standard as he finished at 48.56 and the time to meet the B-standard for 2020-21 is at 48.55.
 
The 400 free relay was the one relay that Escobar's team was able to win of the three relays he swam as he was the second leg of the relay, finishing his split with a five-second lead for the Tigers. In the point-scoring, runner-up finish for the Tigers in the 200 free relay, Escobar also swam the second leg to leave his team less than a second behind the eventual winners as they finished less than four seconds behind.
 
As the butterfly leg of the 200 medley relay, Escobar and the rest of his team finished in third place out of three teams to a time of 1:44.54 to round out his day in the dual against Lindsey Wilson.
 
This is the fourth time Escobar has been named MSC Men's Swimmer of the Week and the second time this season he has taken home the honor.
 
Escobar and the Tigers now prepare to compete in the Mid-South Conference Championships starting this Thursday in Kingsport, Tenn. as the three-day event will conclude on Saturday.
