Tigers set for trio of conference matches as they host MSC Pod

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Missing out on a pair of matchups last week due to weather-related travel issues, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team will be back in action this Friday and Saturday when they host a Mid-South Conference Pod.
 
No fans will be permitted to attend any of the matches this week as six different teams will be playing matches in either Gosser Gymnasium or the Powell Athletic Center. All matches will be streamed on www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch as the Tigers will play all of their matches in Gosser.
 
CU will face St. Andrews on Friday at 7 p.m. ET with Saturday matches against Truett McConnell at 10 a.m. and Warner at 4 p.m. to close out the weekend. Thomas More and Bluefield are the other two teams in the Pod but they will not compete against Campbellsville over the two-day stretch.
 
TIGER NOTES
  • Campbellsville most recently moved up to No. 2 in the most recent NAIA Coaches' Poll as they have been ranked in the top-five all season long.
  • With their 9-2 record, CU is currently on a seven-match winning streak with their last defeat coming on Jan. 20 against NCAA DII Lewis University.
  • The Tigers have not dropped a set since Jan. 23 at the NCCAA Invitational when they battle Ottawa University Arizona to a five-set win.
  • Campbellsville ranks in the top-10 statistically in the NAIA in seven different categories and in four averaged categories such as aces per game, assists per game, hitting percentage, and kills per game.
 
SCOUTING ST. ANDREWS
  • The Knights are 2-4 overall on the season and 2-3 in conference play with their most recent matching coming in a 3-0 sweep of Truett McConnell.
  • Their leader in kills is Diego Hernandez as he has 46 more kills than the next highest Knight with his 85 on the season and a .235 hitting percentage.
  • Kidanny Ortiz is their primary setter as he has nearly 100 more assists than their next highest as he sits at 147 for the season.
 
SCOUTING TRUETT-McCONNELL
  • TMC is 0-3 so far and has not earned a set win yet in losses to St. Andrews, Reinhardt and Life.
  • As a team, they've only amounted 28 total kills with Kaleb Mitchell leading the team with just six kills.
  • Their leader in assists, Wensky Saintilmond has only played in one match for the Bears but finished that match with a team-high 11 assists.
 
SCOUTING WARNER
  • Warner has also not earned a match win this season as they dropped a 3-1 match to Reinhardt, and a 3-2 match to Life.
  • Eduardo Ayala is the leader in kills for the Royals as he has 33 kills in nine sets played.
  • Matheus Collares is the team's primary setter with 76 total assists on the season with no other player in double figures.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
  • Campbellsville will hit the road next week for a pair of matches in MSC play when they play at Cumberland University next Tuesday and at Georgetown on Friday, Mar. 5.
