CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Needing some positive results after three-straight losses, the Campbellsville University men's tennis team earned a 7-0 win over Shawnee State and a 4-3 win over Pikeville in Mid-South Conference duals action over the weekend.
In their sweep win over Shawnee State, the Tigers didn't lose a single match in either singles or doubles play but they did have to sweat out needing to win four out of six singles matches after dropping the doubles point against Pikeville.
Raul Safont,
Matus Sevcik, and
Pablo Mossenta won both of their singles matches on the day including pulling out much needed wins for CU in Pikeville. Mossenta clinched the victory over UPike with his 6-1, 6-4 win from No. 6 singles.
The doubles teams of Safont and
Nicolas Verdu,
Yuto Shimotuji and
Grayson Cullen, then Mossenta and
Nicholas Weisner swept the doubles matches against Shawnee State but only Shimotsuii and Cullen won their match against Pikeville.
Shimotsuii,
Mario Sanchez, Weisner, and Cullen also all won singles matches over the weekend for a strong pair of duals in conference play.
Next up for the Tigers is a home dual against Brescia University at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.
