PULASKI, Tenn. – Facing the tough task of No. 5 in the NAIA Top-25 rankings, the Campbellsville University women's soccer team dropped a 5-1 game to Martin Methodist College in Tuesday night's regular season finale.
The Redhawks got to work quickly, scoring a goal just 1:49 into the game as Suzuho Yamasaki scored a goal on an assist from Adisa Amang.
In the 14
th minute, the Redhawks made it 2-0 when Yamasaki scored her second of the game, unassisted. Martin Methodist was able to make their lead more comfortable at 3-0 when Amang scored herself in the 19
th minute.
CU earned a free kick shortly after the Among goal as
Lauren Woodcock sent the ball forward to eventually be collected by
Abigail Proctor, who scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
With the score at 3-1 and Campbellsville potentially looking to bring it back close, as Watari scored on a free kick to make it a 4-1 deficit heading into halftime.
The lone second half goal was scored by Amang in the 56
th minute to get to the eventual final score of 5-1. Amang fired 11 total shots as the Redhawks outshot the Lady Tigers 32-10 in the game with Proctor being the only player taking more than one shot in the game.
Campbellsville will now prepare for the Mid-South Conference Tournament where they will likely host an Opening Round game against an opponent to be determined as the final games of the conference regular season finish up.
