BOWLING GREEN, KY – With less than ideal conditions, the Lady Tigers were able to pull out a third place finish while finishing just one point off runner-up.
 
Mud puddles and giant bodies of water filled the course through the night which meant for a more strategic day from the field.
 
Gabrielle Velez and Hailie LaMar led the team in route to first team all-conference honors. Velez finished in seventh place overall with a time of 20:17.3 while LaMar was eighth at 20:36.9.
 
LaMar was the first freshmen that finished the race which earned her Freshman of the Year honors. She joined fellow freshman Shawn Little to earn the award. This is the first time in program history that the team has swept the freshman of the year honor.
 
Hailey Shank was able to have a big day as she asserted herself into the top three for the team with her finish in 21:35.1 placing her in 23^rd place. Emma Steff who is Bowling Green native was able to return to the course she ran in high school finishing in the top 30 at 29^th place with a time of 21:43.4.
 
Senior Maggie Parrish finished out her cross country career for the Lady Tigers rounding out the top five with a 32^nd place finish and a time of 22:01.8. Freshman Marlena Sipes came in behind Parrish with her time of 23:39.8 with her place of 52^nd.
 
Ashlyn Elmore was able to fight through the injury bug to have one last race for the team with her behind Sipes in 57^th position with a time of 24:16.2.
 
University of the Cumberlands dethroned Shawnee State who has won the title every year since 2010. They finished with 55 team points while Shawnee State finished with 98 points. Campbellsville was one spot off the automatic bid to the national championship with their third place finish at 99 team points. 
 
LaMar and Velez extend their season another two weeks as they will look to the national championship which is being held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
