WICHITA, Kan. – Heading into the final stretch of their 2020-21 season, the Campbellsville University men's wrestling team earned five individual spots into the NAIA Wrestling Championships on Mar. 5-6.
 
The Tigers that earned spots into their specific weight class brackets include Tombola Sindihebura (141 lbs.), Tristan Sellmer (157 lbs.), Gavin Smith (165 lbs.), Mahlic Sallah (174 lbs.), and David Richardson (184 lbs.).
 
The trio of Sallah, Sellmer, and Richardson all are in the top-12 of their division with Sallah holding the highest ranking of No. 6 at 174 lbs. with Sellmer ranked No. 11 and Richardson ranked No. 12. Both Smith and Sindihebura are outside of those top-12 rankings in their brackets but look to make some noise with some upsets.
 
Richardson earns a bye into the round of 16 as the remaining representative for CU will face matchups in the round of 32 to advance. Sindihebura faces the toughest first round matchup on paper as he was slotted to go up against No. 1 ranked Baterden Boldmaa of Doan who comes into the tournament with a 20-0 individual record.
 
Sellmer, who finished 8-3 on the year, will square off with Justus Scott of Baker in the first round to potentially face a Mid-South Conference foe from either Midway or Life in the round of 16. Smith matches up with No. 3 seed Elias Vaoifi of Missouri Valley to move on to a match with Gabriel Crawford of Concordia with a win.
 
Sallah's opening round bout will come against Isaiah Sellers of Williams Baptist as the junior would advance to a match against Noah Clary of Lourdes in the round of 16 with a win.
 
Losses do not end the season for the Tigers in their opening matchups as they will then proceed into the consolation side of the brackets to continue to battle for All-American status.
