Tiger volleyball finishes off pool play needing a win against Vanguard

DES MOINES, Iowa. – Getting the help they needed to keep championship aspirations alive, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team is now officially in "win or go home" mode as they prepare to face Vanguard University in the final match of Pool C at the NAIA Tournament.

The Tigers and Lions will get Thursday's action started at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa with first serve scheduled for 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT. A win for the Tigers would create a three-way tie at 1-1 in Pool C, thus creating a tiebreaker scenario to be played out on Friday prior to the start of the semifinals.

The NAIA will provide video and stats coverage of the tournament as the video streaming will flow through Stretch Internet at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/naia/  for a viewing fee and the live stats can be found at http://www.dakstats.com/WebSync/Pages/Tournament/TournamentPage.aspx?association=10&sg=MVB&tour=3462  for all matches of the tournament.

TIGER NOTES

  • Kyle Anema and Matthew Roussin led the way for VU with 13 kills apiece as that tandem also led the Lions in kills through the season as Anema had 221 and Roussin had 157 on the year.
  • Vanguard went 9-3 in the regular season with seven of their matches coming against Hope International University with a limited playing field out of California and in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
  • VU did win the GSAC Championship with a 3-1 win over Ottawa University Arizona by a final of 3-1 on Mar. 27.
