BOWLING GREEN, KY – Coming off tying the second best team average time in program history the Lady Tigers placed runner-up at the Drakes Creek Scramble Friday evening.
Once again
Christy Shank stepped up to the plate and delivered a stellar performance. Shank trailed Bethel (Tenn.) Andrea De La Rosa who won the race in 19:14.4 while Shank crossed the line in 19:48.4.
Bowling Green native
Emma Steff who has ran on the course since she was in middle school was able to bring in a top ten finish for the team. Steff placed seventh overall running a 20:22.9.
Hailey Shanks was not too far behind Steff keeping the gaps close for the top five. Hailey crossed the line in 20:36.8 and was also able to secure herself a top ten finish at ninth place.
Hailie LaMar who is has been battling through minor injury brought more energy to the table this week getting herself back into the top five scorers for the Lady Tigers. LaMar placed 14
th in the race and crossed the line at 20:55.2
T'lea Scott rounded out the teams top five harriers. Scott ran her way into a top 20 finish for the team placing 18
th overall and ran a 21:15.5.
Maggie Lockard and
Nina Daman kept the important sixth and seventh runner closer this week. Lockard secured the top 20 finish with her time of 21:18.7 while Daman was 23
rd finishing in 21:24.5.
Marlena Sipes and
Madison Welch were the final runners to cross the line for the Lady Tigers. Sipes placed 36
th in 22:39.7 and Welch was 41
st while crossing the line in 22:57.0.
Overall, the team was only one second slower in their 1-5 spread this week compared to last week. The team finished with an average time of 20:36 and their spread was 1:27.1. Their team time misses a top ten program time by one two seconds.
Campbellsville placed second in the meet with 48 points finishing behind University of the Cumberlands who won the meet with 34 points.
The team will have a week off before heading to one of the premier meets in the country at the Greater Louisville Classic on October 2
