RICHMOND, Ky. – The Campbellsville University Men's Tennis Team filled the NAIA ITA Southeastern Regional Tournament bracket with three doubles and six singles. Campbellsville was able to send a duo into the quarterfinal round and a solo found his way to the Round of 16.
Hernan Toledo found the most success on each side for CU. In doubles, he was paired with
Jan Stolin as the 8
th ranked duo. In their opening round they would defeat two from Thomas More, 8-4. Up next was an 8-6 dogfight victory over two Georgetown Tigers. Toledo and Stolin would then be matched up against #1 Banoub/Barbier, dropping that match 8-4.
The duo of Inaki Toledo and
Nicolas Verdu was able to pick up an opening round win before their doubles run was halted.
Mario Sanchez and
Matus Sevcik were the last duo in the bracket for CU, dropping their opening match to the #5 duo, 8-1.
On the singles side of the bracket, Campbellsville compiled some wins. The Tigers were highlighted once again by
Hernan Toledo. He picked up an opening round victory 6-1, 6-0 over Liorenc Porquer. His next matchup saw the same result, a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Logan Smallwood of Georgetown. The Round of 16 is where Toledo's run would come to an end.
Campbellsville had four other Tigers reach the round of 32 with opening round victories.
Nicolas Weisner defeated Marcos Neves of Bethel University,
Matus Sevcik defeated Juan David Hernandez of Bethel University,
Mario Sanchez defeated a Saint of Thomas More, and
Jan Stolin defeated Anatoliy Voloshyn of Lindsey Wilson.
Inaki Toledo lost his opening round matchup.
The Tigers will be back in action on October 8
th in Bowling Green, Ky. at the MSC Fall Invitational.
