BEREA, KY. – Lady Tigers started the season off with a third place finish at the Berea College/Centre College Jamboree Friday evening.
Campbellsville normally competes in a 5-kilometer race while Friday's race was only two miles.
Making an early impression upon teams was rookie
Christy Shank. Shank was able to finish second overall in the race crossing the line in 12:07.7.
Sophomore
Emma Steff was able to bring in the next set of points for the team. Steff finished in eighth overall with a time of 12:26.6.
Hailie LaMar who sits at number four on the 5K top ten stayed close to Steff while coming in at 12:38.7 finishing in 12
th place.
Rounding out the Lady Tigers top five was
Nina Daman and
Hailey Shank. The duo finished back-to-back with Daman placing 20
th with a time of 12:51.5. Hailey finished in 21
st place overall with her time of 12:51.9.
"I'm happy with the performance and efforts overall for the women's team today," said Coach
Corbin Harris. "It was nice to get back into racing and our team packed well. The freshmen came to race today and have proven what they had all pre-season, that they are here to compete."
Reigning Mid-South Conference Champion University of the Cumberlands won the meet with their team score of 31 points. Centre College finished runner-up as a team with 45 points while the Lady Tigers came in third with a team score of 59 points.
