Tigers swim past Centre, Asbury

DANVILLE, Ky. ­– On Saturday January 8th, the #8 Tigers swim team traveled to Centre College to participate in their first competition of the spring semester. Campbellsville emerged with the overall team victory over the host institution and Asbury University recording a score of 475.
 
The Tigers began the Colonel Classic with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay on the backs of Sebastian Escobar, Llewellyn Crewe-Brown, John Carter Chappell, and Benjamin Burnison. From there, highlights include a first-place finish for Escobar in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.87), a third-place result for Chappell in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.70), and a third-place close for Crewe-Brown in the 100-yard backstroke (57.36).
 
Escobar would pick up his second victory in the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.25). The team of Logan Reichley, Chappell, Escobar, and Crewe-Brown recorded a time of 1:42.56 for second-place in the 200-yard medley relay. Nick Burnison grabbed silver in the 1000-yard freestyle with a 10:56.91. In the 50-yard freestyle, Thomas Webb took second (22.92) and Burnison was third (24.10). For the 200-yard backstroke, Crewe-Brown (2:07.07) and Reichley (2:20.50) went second and third respectively. The 100-yard freestyle saw Campbellsville taking places second through fifth led by Escobar (48.75).
 
Next, the Tigers will travel to Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday January 22nd.
