WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The #16 Campbellsville University men's wrestling team took on the #12 University of the Cumberlands Patriots Monday evening in a Mid-South Conference face-off. Despite a hot start, Cumberlands was victorious in the final four matches and narrowly defeated the Tigers 21-19.
Noah Lippeat began the night triumphant over #7 Austin Franco pinning him at 3:56 and moving the 125 lb. freshman Lippeat to 6-2 in duals on the season.
Cameron Henderson followed up his teammate's performance with a victory of his own in the 133 lb. weight class posting a decision win of 5-2 over his Patriots foe. Cumberlands' #7 Bryce Nickel would prevent the Tigers from winning their first three matches though taking the pinfall over
Cole Fort.
The Tigers would capture their next three bouts, however.
Dayton Marvel (149 lb.) recorded a 6-5 decision win, #18
Tyler Muldrew (157 lb.) defeated his opponent in a sudden victory, and #20
Chandler Woenker (165 lb.) posted a statement success with his major decision 11-0. Unfortunately, the last four contests would go in Cumberlands' favor.
Next, the Tigers will be hosting University of Rio Grande and #15 Thomas More University at home for Senior night. Those duals are set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
