KINGSPORT, TN – Campbellsville sit in outright third place after day one of competition Thursday at the Mid-South Conference Championships.
The Tigers collected the early bronze medal in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Ian Lopez,
Sebastian Escobar,
Llewellyn Crewe-Brown, and
Nicholas Grabauskas finished the event at 1:25.55. They were on the heels of Lindsey Wilson who finished second at 1:25.29.
In one of the more bizarre events on the day, a misread lap count caused a handful of swimmers to stop with still one lap to go in the 500-yard freestyle. Escobar was still able to collect himself through the event to finish sixth place with a time of 4:44.88.
Nicholas Burnison and
Grant Luckett were able to join Escobar in scoring in the event. Burnison earned three points with a time of 5:08.23 and Luckett earned one point with a time of 5:18.24.
John Carter Chappell finished ninth overall in the 200 IM with his time of 1:57.96.
Jude White and
Logan Pisula were able to collect three more points in the event. White placed 15
th overall at 2:08.84 while Pisula placed 16
th in the event with a time of 2:14.34.
Lopez missed the podium in the 50-yard freestyle placing fourth in the event at 21.26. Crewe-Brown and
Thomas Webb also earned points in the individual event. Crewe-Brown earned three points with a time of 22.13 while Webb earned two points at 22.38.
Tigers finished off day one on a high note earning the silver medal in the 400-yard medley relay. Crewe-Brown, Grabauskas, Escobar, and Lopez all finished the event in a time of 3:33.39 earning 34 points.
Campbellsville returns to action Friday morning at 10 AM for day two of the Mid-South Conference Championships.
