CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The (RV) Campbellsville University men's tennis team took on the Bethel University Wildcats and the Grace College Lancers as they returned to the tennis courts. The Tigers won over the Wildcats 7-0, but they fell to the Lancers 3-4.
The Tigers opened up competition against the Bethel University Wildcats. Campbellsville sent out their #1 doubles team of
Hernan Toledo and
Satoshi Yamada to start the day. They were victorious taking a commanding 6-1 win. The #2 team of
Jan Stolin and
Matus Sevcik took a dominant shutout victory of 6-0. The doubles team of
Nicolas Andrade and
Alex Cyrille Lago finished off doubles play with a 5-4 victory.
The #1 singles player for CU, Stolin, came out and picked up two convincing wins with a 6-1 set and a 6-2 set.
Hernan Toledo followed up that performance with scores of 6-3 and 6-4. Lago also picked up wins of 6-1 and 6-0. Andrade came out with 6-1 and 6-2 victories in his match.
Sebastian Toledo picked up two 6-0 set wins in his match and to finish off singles competition
Mario Sanchez picked up two victories with sets of 6-0 and 6-2.
Campbellsville continued the day by traveling and taking on the Grace College Lancers. The Tigers started strong in doubles play by sending out their #1 team of
Hernan Toledo and Yamada as they picked up a 5-3 victory. The Lancers bounced back and took a 6-2 victory over the #2 team of Stolin and Sevcik and a 6-4 victory over the #3 team of Andrade and Lago.
Stolin opened up singles play against the Lancers with sets of 6-1 and 7-5.
Hernan Toledo fell in three sets with scores of 6-3, 3-6 and 3-6. Yamada helped the Tigers make up ground with set victories of 6-0 and 7-5. The Lancers would take down Andrade and Lago.
Sebastian Toledo would finish off the day by picking up a win with sets of 6-2 and 7-6.
The Tigers are set to return to action on Tuesday March 15 as they will travel to Union College. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. ET.
