CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The (RV) Campbellsville University men's tennis team took on the Indiana University East Red Wolves on Friday and then faced off against the Freed-Hardeman Lions for their first home series of the spring. The Tigers won over the Red Wolves 6-0 and defeated the Lions in a shut-out as well 7-0.
Georgetown College hosted the Tigers and the Red Wolves. Two matches could not be finished in the outdoor setting with the third doubles contest and sixth singles match both stopped early. Still, the #1 doubles team of
Jan Stolin and
Satoshi Yamada were victorious 6-4 while the #2
Hernan Toledo and
Nicolas Andrade won in convincing fashion with a final score of 6-1.
The #1 singles player, Stolin, set the tone for the Tigers with two 6-3 sets.
Hernan Toledo followed with a 6-2 and then a shutout 6-0. Yamada dropped his first game but bounced back for a 7-5 and then 10-9 finish in the second and third battles. Andrade posted a 6-0, 6-4 win in the #4 spot.
Sebastian Toledo picked up the final victory of the day in the #5 spot.
The next day saw the Tigers come home to the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex where they again shutout their opponent, the Lions of Freed-Hardeman.
This time, Stolin and Yamada were defeated in the #1 doubles spot, but all other matches went in the Tigers' favor. In doubles,
Hernan Toledo and Andrade won 6-0. Also,
Grayson Cullen and
Matus Sevcik posted a score of 6-1 over their foes.
Stolin and Yamada both got their revenge in the singles matches though going 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0 respectively.
Hernan Toledo, in the #2 spot grabbed a 6-4, 6-1 win. The #4 Alex Lago took his match 6-1, 6-1. Andrade (#5 6-2, 6-0) and
Mario Sanchez (#6 6-0, 6-1) wrapped up play.
The Tigers will next be in Mobile, Alabama where they will hit the court against both the University of Mobile and William Carey University. Those matches will be Monday and Tuesday March 7
th-8
th.
