WALESKA, GA- Campbellsville was unable to complete the comeback from an early deficit and fell in the season opener to Reinhardt 3-0.
The Tigers opened up the first set of the season with a kill from
John-Marcos Gonzalez. Reinhardt capitalized on Campbellsville's early errors and started on a  3-1 run. The Tigers began the game struggling to establish the connection they needed letting Reinhardt get to a 9-4 start. Near the first set's end, Campbellsville had a team-hitting percentage of .000, and Reinhardt had .263. Reinhardt won the first set 25-19 following an attacking error by Campbellsville.Â
The Eagles began the second set on a 3-0 run by taking advantage of Campbellsville's errors. The Tigers began digging themselves out of a hole by
Bryan Jacques spreading the ball around, allowing multiple Tigers to score points.
Andres Laboy went on a 3-point service run to keep the Tigers fighting 8-10.
Jakob Zum Kolk was relied on heavily for the Tigers as he led the team with 7 Kills. Reinhardt went on to win the second set 25-17.Â
The Tigers began the third set by taking advantage of the Eagles' errors and jumped to a 3-2 advantage.
Diego Betancourt distributed the ball to Zum Kolk and Gonzalez to begin building some momentum for the Tigers throughout the set. Reinhardt was able to close out the third set with a score of 25-20.Â
Campbellsville finished the match with a hitting percentage of 0.119 compared to Reinhardt's 0.291. Zum Kolk led the Tigers with 13 kills and hit 0.207. Betancourt led Campbellsville in assists with 14, and Laboy led the Tigers with eight digs.Â
Campbellsville returns to the court Saturday evening to face off against Life University for a 7 PM first serve.
