DANVILLE, KY – The Tigers were on the road over the weekend and returned with a second-place finish against Centre College and defeated Midway University in a double-dual meet.
Campbellsville began their day with a runner-up finish in the 400-yard medley relay.
Ian Lopez,
Bosco Barrero,
Sebastian Escobar, and
Luis Castro finished in 3:48.99. Escobar earned the team's first event win of the evening in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a school record time of 10:12.18. Castro was third overall in 10:53.82.
Lopez earned his second top-three finish of the day in the 100-yard backstroke. He placed second in the event with a time of 57.03. Lopez bounced back in the 100-yard freestyle with a victory time of 49.69, beating out his opponent by .17 seconds at the wall.
Castro earned the silver in the 200-yard backstroke Friday evening. He was half a length behind the winner with his time of 2:07.93.
Jude White was less than ten seconds behind Castro in fifth at 2:17.88.
Brody McKeel and Barrero finished back-to-back in the 200-yard breaststroke. McKeel was fourth overall in 2:32.33, while Barrero was fifth in 2:43.35. Escobar picked up his second win of the evening and an NAIA Provisional Cut in the 500-yard freestyle. He won in 4:51.68, 10.51 seconds over second place. Eli Slaughter finished fifth in the 500 free with his time of 6:01.32.
Campbellsville picked up one final victory on Friday in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Barrero, Escobar, Lopez, and
Martin Venegas won the event in 1:30.67.
Overall, Campbellsville defeated Midway 156-71 and fell to Centre College 179-78.
The team will return to the pool on Saturday, November 4th, for a busy weekend in Campbellsville against Lindsey Wilson and Union College. The first event will go off at 5 p.m. ET.
