Parks dominates at Trine Invite

ANGOLA, Ind. — The Campbellsville University Men's Wrestling team competed at the Trine Invite Saturday and the Tigers had numerous medalists, including Brice Parks who won four of his five matches before decision and captured his weight class' title.

At 174lbs., scoring 22 team points, Parks came away with his first tournament win of the season. Parks dominated in his first three matches picking up two tech falls and a pin before beating #18 Indiana Tech's Landon Buchanan 5-0 in the semifinals. Parks won in dominate fashion, majoring University of Wisconsin's Carson Trotzer 11-2.
 
At 125 lbs., Caleb Thomas took 4th place. Thomas secured 11.5 team points after battling through two extremely close matches on the championship side and finishing with a record of 3-2 on the weekend.
 
In the 133 division, Troy Kennedy took 6th place after losing his first match to Joey Langeman of Trine University. Kennedy fought his way back on the consolation side picking up three decision wins and a major decision win, earning 7.5 team points.
 
Competing at 149 lbs., Lody Cheatam and Jose Milord scored 3.0 and 1.5 team points, ultimately running into each other on the consolation side of the bracket.
 
Three wrestlers competed at 157 lbs. including Carson Baumgardner, Brady Jarvis, and Tyler Muldrew. Among the three, Muldrew placed 5th and scored 11.5 team points.
 
Jake Hurst took 3rd place at 165 lbs., scoring 16.5 team points. He earned a couple pins in a combined 51 seconds within his first two matches before being beaten by Indiana Tech's #23 Jonathan Kervin in the semifinals.
 
At 184 lbs., Kiernan Sherwood earned a fall and three decision wins, grabbing 4.5 team points. Also competing at this weight was Peter Kolomiyets who picked up two falls and earned 5.5 team points.
 
At heavyweight, Jaden Sonner had the most pins (four) in the least amount of time. Three of his pins were in the first period and one was early in the second period. Sonner lost a close match to Rochester's Jackson Schenk in the consolation semifinals but fought back, earning 17 team points and taking 5th place.

Next up, the Tigers will be at the Life University Open on Saturday, November 18th.
