KISSIMMEE, FLA. – Campbellsville's offensive pressure in the second half secured the team a 1-0 win and an early three points in their pool.
The Tigers and Lions were deadlocked in the midfield through most of the first half of play. Campbellsville recorded only three shots in the first 45 minutes. Early offside calls made for more tactical play heading into the second half.
Right out of the gate,
Adam Preston's squad kept the Lions on their heels for most of the second half. In the 56th minute, a counterattack up the right wing had
Nathan Schmidli find
Mihlali Blesi at the top of the box for the far post goal.
From that point on, the Tigers kept the attacking pressure in the Lions third of the field.
Christian Hauge only recorded two saves for the Tigers, coming from free kicks.
Felix Baubeng recorded the most shots for the team with three.
Campbellsville had every statistical category going in their favor this afternoon. They outshot the Lions 12-5, 5-0 advantage on corner kicks and seven shots recorded on frame.
The team will now have a rest day on Tuesday before returning to the field on Wednesday, November 29th, against Roberts Wesleyan. That match will begin at 1 p.m. ET.
