Tigers fall to Hilltoppers 101-77; Penny puts up 21 points

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Campbellsville Tigers traveled to Western Kentucky University to meet the Hilltoppers on Wednesday night for an exhibition matchup. The Tigers fell to the Hilltoppers 101-77.

Jace Wallace opened things for the Tigers with two. Cobe Penny proved to be on his A-game, shooting back-to-back threes to add to his 12 points on the half. Tyrelle Hunt, Jordan Graham, Cameron Willis, Jay Milburn, Darius Harding, and Chandler Clements appeared on the scoreboard in the first half.

The Hilltoppers lead in many statistical categories at the end of the first half: points off turnover (11-0), field goal percentage (46.7-31.4), three-point field goal percentage (27.3-21.4), total rebounds (26-25), and steals (6-2). Campbellsville led in one category: free throw percentage (73-67).

On two Penny layups and back-to-back three-pointers from Wallace and Clements, the Tigers cut the once 19-point lead to just nine in the first six minutes of the second half. In response, the Hilltoppers went on a seven-point run to regain a 16-point advantage. WKU continued to extend their lead but couldn't stop Wallace from scoring 17 points in the second half. The Hilltoppers came out on top, winning 101-77.

While the Hilltoppers led the way in most statistical categories, the Tigers continued to lead in free throw percentage with 82 to 75. Penny led with 21 points on the night. Wallace wasn't too far behind from a solid second half with 19 points, respectively.

Campbellsville will return to the court on Monday, December 11th, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, to take on Voorhees College. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m. ET.
