CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY – The Tigers rounded out the busy day on campus with a double dual against Lindsey Wilson and Union College on Saturday evening.
Campbellsville saw their first event win of the day in the 200-meter medley relay. The team was .45 seconds off the school record in the event.
Llewellyn Crewe-Brown,
Sebastian Escobar,
Ian Lopez, and
Brody McKeel touched the wall in 1:52.55.
Escobar continued the early season success in one of his signature events in the 200-meter freestyle. He won the event with a new school record time of 1:56.52 while also hitting an NAIA Provisional standard.
Luis Castro and
Andrew Jay were 4th and 5th. Castro was 4th in 2:07.78, while Jay was 5th in 2:13.68.
Lopez was the runner-up in the 50-meter freestyle in 25.10, .55 seconds behind his school record.
Jude White finished top-five in the 200-meter IM with a 4th place finish of 2:37.38. In the 100-meter butterfly, Will Luciano was 5th in 1:07.58. In the 100-meter freestyle, Campbellsville finished 3-4 in the race.
Martin Venegas was 3rd in 58.08, and
Benjamin Burnison was 4th in 1:00.05. White turned around with another top-five finish in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:10.25.
Lucca Motta and Eli Slaughter finished back-to-back in the 400-meter freestyle. Motta came in 4th overall with his time of 4:59.65, while Slaughter came in 5th at 5:17.93. McKeel and
Bosco Barrero were the final individual top-five placers. McKeel was 4th in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:15.07, while Barrero was 5th in 1:15.35.
Crewe-Brown was able to hit a top-five finish in teh 100-meter butterfly with his time of 1:03.65.
The Tigers rounded out the day with a runner-up finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay. Barrero, Crewe-Brown, Escobar, and Lopez swam the event in a new school record time of 1:39.25. That shaved off .53 seconds off the previous record.
"I am very proud of my team! They have been training so hard and we've raced three weeks in a row," said head coach
Casey Bradstreet. "They have been pushing every day and I am really looking forward to our mid-season invitational at University of the South in two weeks! Taper begins Monday, and they are ready for it!"
Overall, Lindsey Wilson defeated Campbellsville 116-71 and Union defeated the Tigers 98.50-86.50.
Campbellsville will hit the road for the Igloo Invitational on November 17th-18th in Sewanee, TN.
