Muldrew, Slone, Woenker grab individual wins at Mount Union Invite

ALLIANCE, Oh. – The Campbellsville University Men's Wrestling team hit the road to Ohio for their season opener at the Mount Union Invitational this weekend. The Tigers came away with a second-place team finish. Campbellsville tied with Gannon University for the most match points scored throughout the tournament with 340, the most falls with 16, and the most technical falls with eight.

Tyler Muldrew, Shadrick Slone, and Chandler Woenker were able to walk away with wins in their weight classes to begin the season. Muldrew made his way to the finals after a pin, tech fall, and a minor decision. At 157 lbs., Muldrew won 10-4 over Gannon University's Ethan Richner. Slone outscored his opponents 46-3 before pinning Ohio Northern University's Adam Myers in the first period of the 174 lbs. finals match. At 184 lbs., Woenker picked up two major decisions and a fall in the semifinals before pinning Gannon University's Cole Hivnor late in the third period in the finals.

Nick Yancey ended the day with a second-place finish. Yancey earned three tech-falls and a major decision, outscoring his opponents 76-11, before losing to Ohio Northern University's Jacob Reed in the 141 lbs. finals match, 4-1.

At 165 lbs., Jake Hurst earned two quick falls before a loss in the semifinals. Hurst battled back with a tech fall in the consolation semifinals and pinned West Liberty's Brett Goff in the consolation finals to place third.

At 285 lbs., Gabe Craig picked up two falls before a semifinal loss. Craig teched Gannon University's Matt Long to finish in third place.

Brady Jarvis and Jasitin Kubwimana picked up pins in the 157 lbs. bracket before meeting each other in the consolation finals. Jarvis and Kubwiman forfeited to one another to finish tied for fourth place.

Gabe Martinez also competed in the 174 lbs. bracket and took fifth place.

At 133 lbs., Troy Kennedy started the day with a bye before losing his next match. Kennedy earned three falls but fell in his final match to a sixth-place finish. Gavin Andreoni and Levid Rodriguez also picked up sixth-place finishes. Andreoni had two quick falls and a major decision before losing in the 149 lbs. semifinal match. Rodriguez competed in the 285 lbs. bracket and fell to Ohio Northern University's Jadon Brownlee.

After a first-match loss, Amari Harden battled back to earn two pins on the backside and an eighth-place finish at 125 lbs.

The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, November 11th, in Angola, Indiana, to be part of the Trine Invite.
