Campbellsville puts the clamps on Calumet, 91-57

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – On Tuesday night, the Tigers hosted the Calumet College of St. Joseph Crimson Wave. Campbellsville never lost their hold over the lead and were ahead by as many as 35, holding Calumet to 34% from the field and winning, 91-57.   

Jay Milburn started the first half with a layup assisted by Jace Wallace. After tying the score at four, Wallace, Chandler Clements, and Cobe Penny landed bucket after bucket, pushing Campbellsville's offense forward. Halfway through the first half, the Tigers were yet to allow the Crimson Wave to reach double digits on the scoreboard. As the half continued to unfold, Campbellsville's defense kept Calumet far from the basekt, with 17 defensive rebounds under their belt. With only a couple minutes remaining on the clock, the Tigers held a 22-point advantage over the Crimson Wave. After Calumet went two-for-two at the charity stripe, Campbellsville closed the first half on the lead, 41-22.     

At the half, Campbellsville netted considerably higher field goal and three-point percentages, with 43.6% and 30% respectively to the Crimson Wave's 27.3% and 11.1%. The Tigers consistently gave up good shots for better ones with on-time cutting and paint opportunities.       

Wallace opened the last 20 minutes of the game assisting Darius Harding with a layup for Campbellsville. Calumet collected a few more points at the free-throw line, but Harding, Penny, and Clements continued to land baskets. As the last 10 minutes of the game approached, the Tigers' widened their lead to a 35-point upper hand over Calumet. Donavyn Knox came off the bench and slammed home a dunk, agilely assisted by Cameron Willis. At the end of the game, the Tigers took the victory over the Crimson Wave, 91-57. 
                
At the end of the game, Campbellsville surpassed Calumet largely by collecting 58 points in the paint to the Crimson Wave's 38, and also posting 20 assists to their 12. Tyrelle Hunt led the team with 19 points and eight rebounds, Clements with eight rebounds, and Noah Gordon with four assists.    

The Tigers will be back in action, Friday, November 10th, taking the road to Williamsburg, Kentucky to go against the University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks in the University of the Cumberlands Classic, beginning at 5 p.m. ET.
