CHICAGO, Ill. – The Tigers finished off their northern tour with a loss in Chicago, Illinois in three to the #11 Saint Xavier Cougars.
The Tigers are currently 14th in the country in total digs, with a season total of 674. Campbellsville could not take advantage of their active defense during the match against the Cougars, as they only tallied 16 total.
Fernand Morales and
Jakob Zum Kolk each added four digs to the stat sheet. The slow start in the first set was a major cause to these low numbers.
The second frame went more in the Tiger's favor as they had ten total kills as a team of their 21-match total. The Tigers had been averaging 10.99 kills per set, so those ten they got in the second frame put them back on track, despite the final results of the second set being 25-21 for the Cougars. The Tigers had a similar fight in the third set, putting up nine kills and hitting 0.250. However, the Tigers could not rely on their defense when it was most crucial, as they struggled to establish an effective blocking routine during the match. Errors got the best of the Tigers as they lost to the Cougars in three straight sets.
Campbellsville will be back in action on Tuesday, March 14th visiting Midway University.
