CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The (RV) Lady Tigers hosted the Missouri Baptist Spartans at Finley Stadium Saturday night. Campbellsville's offense was firing on all cylinders, winning the match 5-0.
Saturday's match was the first time the Lady Tigers faced an unranked team since battling the Shawnee State Bears on August 26th. Both teams went into the game looking for their second win of the season. Within the first ten minutes of play,
Charlotte Maconachie had a chance at the goal but dribbled a bit too far with the opportunity. Halfway through the first half, both teams' defenses remained strong, not allowing a single shot through. Only a few minutes later, from the corner,
Olja Ivanovic sent the ball straight to the front of the goal, assisting Maconachie with the goal for the Lady Tigers, Maconachie's first of the season. The Lady Tigers' arduous offense did not cease with their shots at the goal, with unsuccessful attempts from Ivanovic and
Angeline Kieh. With less than five minutes on the clock, Kieh kicked the second goal for Campbellsville, assisted by
Isabelle Presljic.
At the half, the Lady Tigers led the game 2-0. The Tigers grabbed a single save in the waning seconds of the half while they put seven shots up on the other end. Another testament to Campbellsville's control, the Spartans had only one corner shot compared to the Lady Tigers' five.
In the beginning minutes of the second half,
Agatha Nimene had a breakaway, but the shot was saved.
Bethin Boyle attempted a shot at the goal, falling wide to the left. Another fierce trial from Ivanovic was saved by the opposing goalie. Just over halfway through the second half, Nimene sank yet another goal for the Lady Tigers. Continuing to widen Campbellsville's lead,
Alex Glennie passed the ball straight to Nimene, swiftly past the Spartans' defense and netted the fourth goal for the Lady Tigers. The pressure maintained as
Daniela Benavides handled a pass from Nimene, nimbly shooting at the goal, although it went left. With only four minutes remaining in the second half, Glennie scored another goal for Campbellsville, her first of the season. The Lady Tigers' strong offensive efforts led them to victory, winning 5-0.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action, traveling to Williamsburg, Kentucky to go against the University of the Cumberlands Patriots on September 23th, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
