LOUISVILLE, KY –
Nina Daman steps up in back-to-back races to cross the line as the Tigers top runner for the first time in her career.
The heat was a factor by the time Campbellsville got to the line, with temperatures crossing into an unseasonably warm 80 degrees in late September. In the first two races of the season, Campbellsville has seen the new 6K distance, which is what they will run at their conference and national championship. Today, they returned to the 5K distance for the first time in 2023.
Daman had no trouble leading Campbellsville on Saturday with her time of 20:23.3, placing 68th overall.
Emma Steff came in as the second runner for the Tigers, crossing in 20:49.8, placing 104th.
Hailey Shank was the third runner in on the afternoon, being six seconds behind Steff, placing 107th overall in 20:54.9.
Meredith Wilson closed the gap this week from the 3-4 man with her time of 21:59.7 placing 200th.
Rounding out the Tigers top five was
Madison Welch. Welch has been a consistent fifth man for Campbellsville all season as she proved that once again on Saturday, placing 291st running 23:11.6.
Taylor Morgan and
Juliana Baugher were the final runners in for Campbellsville Saturday afternoon. Morgan was 342nd on her afternoon, crossing the line in 24:38.5. Baugher came in as the seventh man overall for Campbellsville, placing 396th in 29:47.2.
Cumberland University placed 7th overall, Lindsey Wilson was 12th, Freed-Hardeman finished in a tie for 20th, and Georgetown College was 23rd overall.
The Tigers finished with a team score of 693, placing 28th with a 1-5 spread of 2:49 and an average time of 21:28.
The Tigers will have the next two weekends off before returning to the course at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday, October 21st, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
