CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY – With less than three weeks to go until the Mid-South Conference Championships, the Tigers finished out the final home meet of the season against Indiana Wesleyan.
Campbellsville picked up the first event win of the day in the 200-meter medley relay.
Luis Castro,
Bosco Barrero,
Andrew Jay, and
Sebastian Escobar won the event by 8.17 seconds with a time of 1:56.61. Castro turned around in the next event to win the 800-meter freestyle in 9:43.10.
Escobar set the school record in his first event win of the day in the 200-meter freestyle. Escobar lowered his own record by 2.02 seconds with his time of 1:54.50.
Benjamin Burnison was the runner-up in the 50-meter freestyle in 27.73, giving the Tigers seven points.
Elijah Slaughter and
Ian Lopez earned the team three points, placing 4th and 5th.
Six points came out of the 200-meter IM. Burnison led the way in 3rd at 2:37.36,
Brody McKeel was 4th overall with a time of 2:38.97, and
Logan Pisula rounded out the top five in 2:39.94.
Lopez and Slaughter brought in six more points from the 100-meter freestyle. Lopez was the runner-up in the event with his time of 1:00.76, and Slaughter was 4th in 1:10.72.
Castro won the 400-meter freestyle, giving the team nine points in 4:36.16. Escobar swam as an exhibition in the 400-meter freestyle and set his own school record in the event at 4:10.82. The final solo event of the day saw nine points added to the Tigers score. Barrero was 2nd in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:15.80, McKeel finished 3rd in 1:16.05, and Pisula was 4th overall in 1:20.29.
Campbellsville completed the day with a 2nd place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay. Barrero, Pisula, Burnison, and Escobar rounded out the day with a time of 1:46.32.
The team will return to the water on Saturday, January 20th, at the Highway 55 Last Chance Meet at Lindsey Wilson College. Campbellsville will then head to the Mid-South Conference Championship at the end of the month in Kingsport, TN.
