Tigers and Lady Tigers compete at Highway 55 Last Chance Invite

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Campbellsville Tigers traveled to Lindsey Wilson College to compete on Saturday at the Highway 55 Last Chance Invite. While the men were defeated 80-28 and the women fell 91-11, the Tigers had many solid performances.

The Tigers started the morning with a second-place finish in the men's 800-yard freestyle relay with a team of Sebastian Escobar, Llewellyn Crewe-Brown, Lucca Motta, and Luis Castro. Their relay finished at 7:25.68, just three seconds behind first place.

Marlien Crewe-Brown picked up the first team point for the Lady Tigers, placing third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.03.

Escobar took the men's 50-yard freestyle title with an official time of 22.11. Ian Lopez finished the event in 22.63, placing fourth.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers finished third in the men's and women's 200-yard medley relay. The men's relay finished in a time of 1:45.02 and consisted of L. Crewe-Brown, Bosco Barrero, Martin Venegas, and Escobar. The women's relay finished in a time of 2:04.52, consisting of Ellie Eisses, M. Crewe-Brown, Taryn Harper, and Chloe Little.

The afternoon session started slow for the Tigers, but they secured a first-place finish in the men's 100-yard freestyle. Escobar secured the win with an official time of 47.30, beating the rest of the field by a whole second.

M. Crewe-Brown came away with another top-three finish for the Lady Tigers, placing third in the women's 200-yard IM in 2:26.26. L. Crewe-Brown and Barrero took second and third in the men's 200-yard IM, respectively.

In the men's 500-yard freestyle, Escobar and Castro placed second and third. Escobar completed the event in 4:49.38, and Castro finished with a time of 5:06.81.

For the Lady Tigers, Eisses earned a second-place finish in the women's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:30.57, and M. Crewe-Brown earned a second-place finish in the men's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:37.96.

For the Tigers, Lopez competed in the men's 100-yard butterfly and finished in a time of 56.55 for third place. The men's 400-yard freestyle relay team of L. Crewe-Brown, Barrero, Venegas, and Escobar came away with a second-place finish with a time of 3:20.35.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers will be back in action on February 1st to compete at the Mid-South Conference Championships in Kingsport, Tennessee.
