Tigers' 52 rebounds bring Campbellsville to victory

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Tigers hosted the Clinton College Golden Bears on Saturday. With four Tigers in double digits, Campbellsville took the victory over the Golden Bears, 89-70.

Jay Milburn opened the first half with a layup assisted by Darius Harding. Although Campbellsville earned an early lead, Clinton struck back and remained only a couple of points away from the lead. A six-point run from the Tigers propelled them forward on the lead. Halfway through the first half, Campbellsville expanded their advantage to 10 points over the Golden Bears. With six minutes left on the clock, Jace Wallace landed a dunk, reaching double digits. Cameron Willis came off the bench going two-for-two from the charity stripe and throwing a successful three-pointer assisted by Wallace. At the end of the first half, the Tigers led the game 45-29.

Halfway through the contest, both teams remained close in multiple statistical categories. However, Campbellsville collected 5-of-13 (38.5%) three-point baskets, compared to Clinton's zero successful buckets out of six attempts. Additionally, the Tigers' teamplay surpassed the Golden Bears fivefold with 15 assists to their five.

Much like the first, Milburn opened the second half with a layup assisted by Cobe Penny. Chandler Clements and Jordan Graham came off the bench with baskets, bringing the Tigers a 20-point advantage over the Golden Bears. Clinton's offense strengthened halfway through the half, racking up a few baskets in their favor. Milburn's 17 rebounds prevented the Golden Bears from coming too close to the lead, although their deficit decreased to 11 points. A layup by Clements closed the contest with another Tiger victory, 89-70.

Campbellsville closed the game with four Tigers in double digits, Wallace and Milburn with 17 points, Clements with 13 points, and Penny with 11. Additionally, Milburn, Clements, and Tyrelle Hunt each collected 12 points. As a team, Campbellsville more than doubled Clinton with 52 rebounds to their 25 and 22 assists to their nine, and nearly doubled with 54 points in the paint to their 34.

The Tigers will travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky, on Thursday, January 11th, to take on the University of the Cumberlands Patriots starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.
