GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –
Christy Shank ran her way to the top of the 5K record books on Saturday, running a new school record time of 18:03.20.
Shank earned a top-ten finish on Saturday with her new record time. Two years ago,
Emma Steff broke the school record at the NCCAA Championships of 18:07.00, breaking a 15-year-old school record held by Miranda Meeks. Shank was able to best that time by 3.80 seconds over the weekend.
Nina Daman ran another cross country personal best on Saturday, breaking the 19-minute barrier on the course for the first time in her career. Daman ran a time of 18:49.10, placing 38th overall and moving 5th on the all-time list.
Brianna Collins made a big jump for the Tigers running a 52.6 second personal best of 19:36.40 placing 103rd overall.
Campbellsville had their 4-5 finish in back-to-back positions.
Julia Smaldone and
Jennifer Buttery placed 162nd and 163rd for the team. Smaldone came in at 21:30.40, and Buttery was 21:35.30.
Madison Welch and
Maggie Jewell were the final two in the top seven on Saturday. Welch placed 172nd in the race with a time of 22:07.20, while Jewell was directly behind Welch in 173rd place at 22:19.30.
As a team, the Tigers ran an average time of 19:54.00 on Saturday, with their 1-5 spread at 3:32.1. Campbellsville finished in 17th place with 411 team points.
This meet concludes the regular season for Campbellsville as they will now look ahead toward the Mid-South Conference Championships on Friday, November 8th, in Bowling Green, KY.
