Lady Tigers host Campbellsville University Invite

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Campbellsville University Cheer and Dance Teams hosted their home-openers at Powell Athletic Center Saturday. The Tiger Dancers earned two victories against the University of the Cumberlands while the Tiger Cheer Team finished fourth and fifth in their two rounds of competition.

Campbellsville scored a 71.60 in the first round while the Patriots scored a 66.10. "For our first time putting this routine in front of a crowd, I am very happy with their performance!" said Head Coach Laura Day. "Because of the adrenaline, we made some mistakes that cost us but we were still able to pull off a win."

In the second round, Campbellsville came out with a stronger performance and scored a 73.55. The Patriots scored a 67.10. "In the second round, we were able to correct several of the mistakes we made the first round. We have some tough competition coming up in the next few weeks but I am confident this group will continue to improve and get stronger each week! I'm very proud of these ladies!"

Campbellsville Cheer hosted Cumberlands, Lourdes, Cumberland, Pikeville, Lindsey Wilson, and Brescia. The Lady Tigers came in fourth with their 77.35 score in the first round and then in fifth in the second despite a slight score boost at 77.73. One, two, and three were the same for both rounds: The Cumberlands Patriots took first, Lourdes Gray Wolves second, and the Cumberlands Phoenix rounding out in third.

The Tiger Dancers will compete again in a virtual competition against Aquinas and Siena Heights on Sunday, February 25th at 3:10 p.m. ET. The Campbellsville Cheer Team will next be in action at the University of the Cumberlands on March 2nd.
