DANVILLE, KY – Campbellsville was able to battle through the snowstorm this weekend at the Centre Invitational.
Friday's round of snow prevented the Tigers from competing that day which resulted in the team only being able to go to the Saturday session. Campbellsville jumped out the gate in the 200-yard medley relay, placing 6th overall.
Ian Lopez,
Yuri Prokopchuk,
Llewellyn Crewe-Brown, and
Jackson Willett finished in 1:39.30. In the 400-yard IM,
Luis Castro finished in 6th in 4:37.19.
Tigers had two in the top 20 in the 100-yard butterfly. Lopez placed 16th in 55.85, and Crewe-Brown was 20th overall in 57.61.
Andreu Jaén Serra was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.60. Campbellsville had another top-three finish come from the 100-yard breaststroke. Prokopchuk earned his way to the podium, placing 3rd in 57.81, and Logan PIsula placed 19th in 1:08.10.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Crewe-Brown placed 17th in the event with a time of 1:00.45. Adam Peeden came in 20th place in 1:04.47. For the 800-yard freestyle relay, Crewe-Brown, Jaen Serra, Pisula, and Castro placed 6th overall in 7:45.43.
Campbellsville had three athletes compete in the 1,650 freestyle. Jaen Serra picked up the runner-up finish in 16:45.93. Castro placed 7th overall in 17:34.74, and
Bosco Barrero was 17th in 20:20.80.
Lopez and Willett earned top 20 finishes in the 100-yard freestyle. Lopez placed 18th in 51.15, and Willett was 20th in 51.72. Prookopchuk picked up another podium, placing 2nd overall in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:12.32. Pisula placed 14th in the event in 2:32.58.
The final event for the Tigers was the 400-yard freestyle relay. Barrero, Jaen Serra, Willett, and Lopez placed 9th overall in 3:22.56.
The Tigers will appear in the water one more time before heading to the Mid-South Conference Championships on Saturday, January 25th, when they travel to Lindsey Wilson for the Highway 55 Last Chance Invitational.
