COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Tigers men's swim team returned to action Thursday night in a road dual meet against Lindsey Wilson, putting together a solid performance despite a 156–43 final score in favor of the Blue Raiders.
The Tigers started the night strong in the 200 medley relay, where the A-team of Domantas Petraitis, Bikash Kumal, Kyle Kleinhans, and Martin Venegas finished second in 1:41.48, less than four seconds behind Lindsey Wilson's A-team. The B-relay of Jacob Isacson, Kase Moore, Kirkland May, and Lucca Motta also contributed points, placing fourth in 1:50.70.
Head coach Casey Bradstreet shared her thoughts after the meet, saying, "It was good to see everyone racing again after a couple of weeks off. We saw some great time improvements and also a lot of hard training paying off."
That hard work showed early in the 1650 freestyle, where Andreu Jaen Serra clocked a personal-best 16:27.52 to take second, followed by teammate Luis Castro in third at 17:12.94.
In the 200 freestyle, Adrien Cantemerle led the way for the Tigers with a third-place finish and a personal best of 1:48.50, while Motta and Ryan Wolfe added points in fifth and seventh, Wolfe setting a season-best 2:06.40.
The 100 freestyle saw Venegas touch fourth in 50.64, with DaVaughn Wilson rounding out the Tigers' effort in 57.09.
"It's always exciting to see those swims that are the first time or the first time this season," Bradstreet added. "I think everyone battled in their races and the relays."
In the 200 backstroke, Isacson had one of the team's strongest swims of the night, taking second in 2:03.51, a season best. Petraitis followed close behind in third with 2:04.63, while Kleinhans and May added depth to the event with times of 2:10.05 and 2:13.04.
The Tigers continued to post improvements in the 200 breaststroke, as Kumal placed third in a season-best 2:20.27, and Garrett Schmidt and Moore added personal-best efforts at 2:48.57 and 2:49.62, respectively.
In the 500 freestyle, Castro and Jaen Serra led another strong showing, finishing second and third with times of 4:50.29and 4:50.63, both marking significant season drops.
Campbellsville closed the night in the 800 freestyle relay. The A-team of Jaen Serra, Cantemerle, Castro, and Kleinhans placed third in 7:24.59.
The Tigers are right back at it on today, October 31, heading to Wilmore, Kentucky, for a dual meet against Asbury University.
