CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Tigers hosted their first home meet of the season Friday evening, celebrating Senior Day with several standout swims despite a narrow loss to Indiana Wesleyan University.
The night began with an exciting finish in the 200-meter medley relay, as Adrien Cantemerle, Bikash Kumal, Luis Castro, and Andreu Jaén Serra placed first by just .03 seconds with a time of 1:54.24.
Cantemerle followed up with a strong performance in the 200-meter freestyle, winning the event in 2:03.66. Kyle Kleinhans and Lucca Motta also added valuable points with fourth and fifth-place finishes.
In the 50 freestyle, Martin Venegas earned second place with a personal best of 25.77, while DeVaughn Wilson and Kase Moore also contributed solid points for the Tigers. The 100 freestyle saw another personal best from Venegas, who placed second in 55.68, with Kirkland May and Motta following in the top four, Motta also hitting a new best time.
Luis Castro led the way in the 100 butterfly, winning with a personal best of 1:01.51, followed by Kumal in fourth. Castro returned to claim his second victory of the night in the 400 freestyle, leading a Campbellsville 1-2-3 sweep alongside Cantemerle and Jaén Serra.
The Tigers showed depth in the 200 IM, with Jaén Serra and Jacob Isacson taking second and third place, respectively.
A program highlight came from Kleinhans, who set a new school record in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 1:01.17, followed by Isacson and May to secure a strong event for the Tigers.
In the 100 breaststroke, Kumal earned second place in 1:09.75, while Moore added points for the Tigers, and Garrett Schmidt clocked a personal best in the same event.
The Tigers closed the evening with two relay teams finishing second and third in the 200 freestyle relay. Despite the team results, Campbellsville's Senior Day was marked by several personal bests, event wins, and a new school record.
The Campbellsville Tigers will return to compete on Tuesday, October 14th, at Centre College for a double dual meet to take on Centre College and Midway University.
