COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Tigers took on the Fisk University Bulldogs on day two of the Lindsey Wilson University Brady Button Memorial Classic. Campbellsville closed its weekend in Columbia two-for-two, as a dominant bench performance and a 52.5% field goal percentage fueled an 83-61 victory.

  • Two Tigers finished the game with double digits: senior Jay Milburn with 15 points and junior Eli Brooks with 11.
  • Milburn also led the team with seven rebounds, while redshirt senior Javaughn Smith and graduate student TyShay Epps led with three assists each.
  • Campbellsville's action in the paint earned them the victory, outscoring Fisk 38-24.
  • The Tigers' deep rotation was a key factor, with the bench outscoring the Bulldogs' reserves 36-13.
  • Campbellsville (3-0) had not played Fisk since 2015 and now holds two consecutive victories against the Bulldogs.
  • The Tigers will be back in action, traveling to Williamsburg, Kentucky, for the Cumberlands Classic to take on the Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers on Thursday, November 6th, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

Fisk scored the game's first basket, but the Tigers found a steady rhythm from beyond the arc. TyShay Epps hit the first three-pointer at the 17:35 mark, followed by Javaughn Smith at 15:12. Fisk stayed close, tying the game 7-7 and cutting the lead to one (12-11) with 13:31 on the clock. After Taveon Smith hit a three, Fisk rallied again, cutting the deficit to 23-21 with 7:00 left in the half.

From that point, the Tigers' bench took over, sparking a 21-6 run to close the period. Evan Frederick and Ra Briggs provided intense defensive pressure, with Briggs logging a steal and a block in the final minute. Offensively, Marcellus Vail contributed two assists and five points on the run, while Briggs added a three-pointer and a powerful dunk. At the half, the Tigers led by 17 points, 44-27.

Although the Bulldogs were first to score in the second half, Jay Milburn ensured Campbellsville preserved its momentum. Fisk cut the lead to 46-34 on a Kaleb Jeffries layup at 18:49, but Milburn responded, grabbing two offensive rebounds and converting two layups in the opening three minutes to keep the Bulldogs at bay.

The Tigers' defense held Fisk back, allowing the offense to extend the lead. Epps hit his second three-pointer at 16:28 to make it 51-36, and Vail connected from deep at the 10:26 mark to push the advantage to 62-42.

Fisk managed to collect points from the charity stripe, shooting an efficient 8-of-9 (88.9%) in the second half, but it was not enough to contain Campbellsville's offensive attacks. The lead grew to its most significant margin of the night, 75-49, when Dalton Kramer scored a three-pointer assisted by Benjamin Yombi with 5:41 to play. Briggs added a final layup in the last minute as the Tigers finished the game with a 22-point victory, 83-61.
