BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Following their Mid-South Conference Regular Season Championship, the #9 Tigers sought to sweep both by also capturing the MSC Championship Tournament.
Nik Yancey,
Tyler Muldrew, and
Shad Slone all finished first in their divisions, but #4 Cumberlands eked out the cumulative team win and Campbellsville came in second.
At the tournament, Assistant Coach
Michael Diemer was announced as MSC Assistant Coach of the Year. Campbellsville totaled seven All-Conference performers: Yancey, Muldrew, and Slone as first-teamers,
Joel Hatchett and
Gabe Craig on second team, and
Wyatt Hinton and
Brice Parks on third.
#3 Yancey was the first Tiger to come away with gold, going back-to-back in both 2024 and now 2025 as the victor of his class. After a bye in the opening round, Yancey battled against #6 Jace Luchau of Cumberlands to a tie where he earned the tie-breaking win to reach the first-place match. There, Yancey notched a retaliatory, 4-2 decision win over #4 Victor Guzman of Cumberland who had caused the Tiger to suffer his first loss in a dual this season only a few weeks prior.
#25 Muldrew made work of his first two opponents in the championship, pinning both in 1:10 and then 5:22, respectively. In the finals, he had his hand raised in a 7-2 decisive victory against #22 Malachia Harris.
In the 174-lbs. division, #5 Slone tore through his competition earning three straight technical falls in a combined time of just 11:03. He took down his finals opponent, Cumberlands' #8 Dylan Preston, in 3:24.
Hatchett and #3 Craig left with silver placements. Hatchett took a tight 4-3 decision defeat to #19 Tyler Rowland of the Phoenix in the championship bout while Craig was pinned by Cumberlands' #13 Austin Silva.
For the 133-lbs. wrestlers, the sixth-seeded Hinton went to war, outdoing his entry number by finishing things third. He picked up a pinfall in round one against the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders' wrestler before running into #7 in the nation Chandlar Akins of Cumberlands. Despite falling short, Hinton took the bout all the way to decision. He then picked up a huge 15-1 major decision to best another Blue Raider before meeting teammate
Izaeah Beavers in the third place match where, unfortunately, Beavers had to bow out due to an injury.
#8 Parks, for the 184-lbs. class, also ended third in the 184-lbs. bracket, including a pinfall win and an 18-14 hard-fought victory over #19 Justin Bartee of Rio Grande.
#10
Jasitin Kubwimana earned a fourth-place finish going 4-2 overall. In his wake included wrestlers #20 Mitchell Freeman of Rio Grande and Midway's #25 Jabril Williams. Both
Bryant Beane and #17
Nick Moore went 2-2 on the day for the 141-lbs. division, with Moore nearly besting the Cumberlands Patriot #20 Eli Peyton but unable to get the win in sudden victory.
Next up for the Tigers in the NAIA National Tournament in Wichita, Kansas. That will begin on Thursday, March 6th and conclude on Saturday, March 8th.
- As a team, the Tigers took home the most pins in the tournament with eight, three more than the second-best Phoenix. Campbellsville was also in a three-way tie for the most technical falls with five, sharing the number with both Cumberland and Cumberlands.
- Slone had the majority of those tech falls himself with three total, earning the team the most points of any Tiger participating with his 18.5. However, Muldrew was just behind him, grabbing 18 points of his own.
