WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – In a tightly contested Mid-South Conference showdown on the road, the #7 Campbellsville University men's wrestling team battled until the final whistle but came up just short, falling 19-18 to #9 University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday night.
- The #7 Tigers battled to the final bout but suffered a heartbreaking 19-18 loss to #9 Cumberlands in Mid-South Conference action.
- Aluma Enwa (125 lbs.) set the tone early with a dominant 19-4 technical fall, giving the Tigers the first lead of the dual.
- #13 Ashton Boswell (197 lbs.) delivered a crucial 11-0 major decision late in the lineup to vault Campbellsville into an 18-16 lead heading into heavyweight.
- #6 Brice Parks (184 lbs.) earned a high-scoring 13-6 decision, sparking a run of three straight Tiger victories to close the dual.
- #7 Shad Slone (174 lbs.) defeated a top-10 opponent with a decisive 8-1 victory, stopping the Patriots' momentum in the upper weights.
- #8 Nik Yancey (149 lbs.) added a top-15 win to his resume, edging out #15 Ty Lehman by a 4-2 decision.
- The Tigers continue their season this weekend when they travel to Marshall, Mo., to compete in the Missouri Valley Invite from January 23-26.
The dual saw five lead changes and came down to sudden victory in the heavyweight bout, with the Tigers winning five of the ten matches, including two bonus-point victories.
Campbellsville opened the night strong at 125 pounds.
Aluma Enwa delivered a commanding performance against Tristan Bryant, racking up takedowns to secure a 19-4 technical fall (7:00) and put the Tigers ahead 5-0.
Cumberlands responded immediately, as Colin Tucker pinned
Troy Kennedy in 2:36 at 133 pounds to take a 6-5 lead. The Patriots extended their advantage at 141 pounds when #17 Eli Peyton secured a 10-1 major decision over
Shane Watson, pushing the score to 10-5.

Nik Yancey answered for the Tigers in a ranked match-up. Yancey ground out a 4-2 decision over #15 Ty Lehman to cut the deficit to 10-8. However, Cumberlands regained control in the middle weights. #14 Brice Coleman defeated #15
Antwaun Burns via a 5-0 decision at 157 pounds, and #22 Rider Trumble edged
Luke Schlosser 5-4 at 165 pounds, extending the Patriots' lead to 16-8.

Ashton Boswell came through in the clutch for Campbellsville. Boswell posted an impressive 11-0 major decision shutout over Caden Brewer, swinging the scoreboard back in favor of the Tigers, 18-16, with one bout remaining.
The dual was decided at heavyweight in a thrilling finish. Samuel Bertin and #11 Austin Silva battled into sudden victory tied at 7-7. In the extra period, Silva secured the winning takedown to claim a 10-7 decision, giving Cumberlands the 19-18 victory.
