#8 Tigers topple #11 Cumberland 29-10; dominate Midway 47-9

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Thursday night delivered a statement double victory for the #8 Campbellsville University men's wrestling team. The Tigers dismantled #11 Cumberland University (Tenn.) 29-10 behind a trio of high-profile upsets before rolling past Midway University 47-9 to close out the regular season home slate.

Propelled by upset victories from Nick Moore, Nik Yancey, and Ashton Boswell, Campbellsville won seven of ten bouts against the Phoenix to set the tone for the upcoming Mid-South Conference Championship.

Campbellsville 29, Cumberland (Tenn.) 10
Cumberland struck first at 125 pounds, as #22 Chase Walker earned a 14-2 major decision over Aluma Enwa, giving the Phoenix an early 4-0 lead.

The Tigers answered immediately at 133 pounds. #14 Izaeah Beavers set the pace with a 14-2 major decision over Bentley Ellison, leveling the team score and putting Campbellsville back in contention.

At 141 pounds, #9 Nick Moore delivered one of the night's marquee performances. Facing #2 Jared Dinh, Moore controlled the bout to secure a 7-2 decision, handing the Tigers their first lead of the dual.

The momentum continued to surge at 149 pounds, where #8 Nik Yancey battled #1 Victor Guzman into overtime. Yancey emerged victorious with a hard-fought 8-5 sudden-victory decision to extend the Tigers' advantage.

Cumberland earned its second win at 157 pounds when Antonio Parker edged Gavin Andreoni by a 4-2 decision, cutting the deficit to 10-7.

From there, Campbellsville seized firm control. At 165 pounds, #4 Jasitin Kubwimana overwhelmed Ethan Gomez, racking up points for a dominant 21-5 technical fall (6:45). #7 Shad Slone wasted no time at 174 pounds, needing just 1:57 to record a 16-0 technical fall over #21 Anthony Pyron.

Cumberland halted the run briefly at 184 pounds as #10 Rocco Horvath earned a 9-5 decision over #9 Brice Parks, but the Tigers slammed the door in the final two matches.

At 197 pounds, #12 Ashton Boswell secured a pivotal 10-5 decision over #10 Tyler Rowland. Heavyweight Samuel Bertin then provided the exclamation point, pinning Evan Dixon in a lightning-fast 35 seconds to seal the 29-10 victory.

In the nightcap, the Tigers showcased their depth against Midway. Caleb Thomas opened with a forfeit victory at 125 pounds. Midway briefly kept it competitive at 133 pounds, where Alex Velazquez earned an 8-3 decision over Troy Kennedy.

Campbellsville regained command at 141 pounds as Shane Watson recorded a blistering 17-0 technical fall in just 1:39 over Lucas Hall. Following a forfeit win for Cal Beadling at 149 pounds, Anthony Joseph (157 lbs.) needed only 47 seconds to pin Andrew Berkon.

After Luke Schlosser accepted a forfeit at 165 pounds, #7 Slone returned to the mat at 174 pounds and delivered his second bonus-point win of the night, a 45-second fall over Sawyer Elwood. Henry Williams (184 lbs.) added to the pin parade with a fall in 1:46 against Evan Duncan.

Jake Heady added a forfeit win at 197 pounds before Midway's Kenneth Henson pinned Ethan Heady in 6:04 at heavyweight to cap the scoring.
