Popoca leads Tigers to 10th place at NCCAA race

Geovanni Popoca finished one second out of the Top 15 and just shy of being an All-American in the National Christian College Athletic Association Cross Country Championship. His time of 26:51 was 17th overall and led Campbellsville University to a 10th place finish out of 23 teams.

Popoca was followed by the same runners who followed him at Cerritos College in California the previous two years, as Qualaun Reed was 68th with a time of 29:06, Armando Pina ran 29:18 for 76th place and Dashan Craft was 79th with a time of 29:25.

Wes Colvin ran a time of 30:35 and Matt Oliver cross the finish at 34:44

Malone College repeated as the NCCAA champion, placing its top four runners in the Top 10. Evan Thayer of host school Cedarville University won the individual title with a time of 25:31.

The race concludes Campbellsville's season, as Popoca prepares to race in the NAIA National Championship in Vancouver Nov. 21.
