JOPLIN, Mo.- The women's and men's cross country teams took the road to race in the NCCAA National Championship. The men ran the 8k, while the women ran the 5k.
Martin Batel and Nathan Sury placed in the top ten runners and earned All-American status. Batel finished third with 25:10.1, and Sury in seventh with 25:29.9.
Aaron Smith and Samuel Larson followed in the top 20, Smith in 15th with 26:23.6 and Larson in 19th with 26:50.5.
Dustin Ralph followed in the top 45 in 43rd place with 28:46.5. Austin Barnes, Mathew Mattingly, and Corbin Hale also ran for the Tigers. Barnes finished 49th with 30:18.2, Mattingly in 69th with 31:04.3, and Hale in 77th with 33:43.2.
Campbellsville men finished third as a team.
Emma Madding and Karly Spalding came in first. Madding placed 22nd with 21:03.5, and Spalding placed 29th with 21:44.7.
Maggie Jewell and Anna Claire Carwile came in next, two places away from each other. Jewell placed 37th with 22:30.2, and Carwile 39th with 22:35.5.
Amelia Larson and Julia Smaldone also ran for the Tigers. Larson finished 47th with 23:01.0, and Smaldone finished 51st with 23:48.5.
Campbellsville women finished sixth as a team.
Batel and Smith will be back in action, traveling to Tallahassee, Florida, on Friday, November 21st, to run in the NAIA National Championship.
