BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Tigers took the road to compete in the Mid-South Conference Championship on Friday. The Campbellsville men ran the 8k, while the women competed in the 6k run.
Martin Batel and Aaron Smith led the Tigers in the top-ten runners. Batel placed seventh with 26:18.62, and Smith placed ninth with 26:40.02. Both Batel and Smith qualified as individuals for the NAIA National Championship on Friday, November 21st, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Following within the top 55 came Samuel Larson, Dustin Ralph, and Matthew Mattingly. Larson finished 30th with 28:32.11, Ralph in 42nd with 29:51.60, and Mattingly in 53rd with 30:53.40.
Corbin Hale also ran for the Tigers, placing 67th with 36:18.03.
Campbellsville men placed fourth as a team with 99 points.
Emma Madding led the women's team, placing 28th with a time of 25:55.99.
Maggie Jewell, Julia Smaldone, and Anna Claire Carwile followed, finishing in the top 40. Jewell finished 32nd with 26:26.84, Smaldone in 37th with 27:07.49, and Carwile in 40th with 27:26.55.
Amelia Larson, Meredith Wilson, Karly Spalding, and Becca Stringer also ran for the Tigers, placing one after the other in the top 50. Larson finished 44th with 28:02.67, Wilson in 45th with 28:09.37, Spalding in 46th with 28:12.16, and Stringer in 47th with 28:27.85.
Campbellsville women placed fifth as a team with 137 points.
Samuel Larson and Anna Claire Carwile were selected as this year's Champions of Character representatives.
The Tigers will be back in action, traveling to Joplin, Missouri, to race in the NCCAA Championship on Friday, November 14th.
