Box Score Campbellsville University women's tennis recorded its first victory of the season Monday, beating Asbury College on the road, 8-1.
It's the first victory for CU since winning at Berea College on April 21, 2009 and snaps a 14 match losing streak, counting the Lady Tigers' fall match and spring exhibition.
The Lady Tigers swept their doubles competition with new combinations at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Meredith Coffey, a senior from Liberty, Ky., moved up to compete with
Anita Henestrosa at No. 1 doubles, while
Stacey Drew, a sophomore from Lancaster, Ky., slid down to join
Melanie Jones.
CU also won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, as Coffey's 6-3, 6-3 win over Sarah Marshall helped seal the victory for CU's fifth win in the match.
Campbellsville (1-11) will face Ohio Dominican College and Brescia University in Owensboro, Ky., on Saturday.
