PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Campbellsville University men's and women's cross country finished fifth- and sixth-place, respectively, in the Mid-South Conference Championships Saturday.
In the men's race,
Andrew Simmons paced the Tigers with a 15th-place finish and time of 27:50.8.
Jacob Holz was four seconds behind him to finish 16th (27:54.7).
Kyle Howdyshell and
Bradley Harris each finished in the Top 30 with times of 28:37.4 and 29:12.2, respectively.
Christian Black rounded out the Tigers' Top 5 with a time of 31:48.1. Also competing for CU were
Garrett Baker (31:58.1) and Davd McKellar (32:56.5).
Host school Shanwnee State University took home top prize after placing six runners in the top seven. Galen Dills won the meet with a time of 25:29.2. The Bears averaged a time of 26:02. Campbellsville averaged 29:04.7.
In women's action,
Sarah Johnson and
Lauren Little ran below 21 minutes for the Lady Tigers with Johnson finishing 17th in 20:24 and Little finished 21st with a time of 20:58.
Rebekah Southwood and
Emily Wesley were among the Top 30 in the race with times of 21:26 and 21:41, respectively.
Jennifer Hatley rounded out the Lady Tigers' Top 5 with a time of 22:10. Also competing for CU were
Myra Rose (22:23) and
Natasha Janes (22:29).
Shawnee State also won the women's meet to sweep the MSC Championships after placing four runners in the Top 10 with an average 5K time of 19:26. Lindsey Wilson College runner Sharon Ronah won the meet with a time of 17:54. CU finished 23 seconds behind LWC with an average time of 21:20.
Campbellsville will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 12 in the National Christian College Athletic Associaiton (NCCAA) Championships in Cedarville, Ohio.
